60vs Iron. ggs!
random guy on the AC discord, was talking about Bezel so I hit him up for some games and yeah he's pretty good - even if his playstyle is built mostly around backpedaling and I (mostly) suck at aggressive builds, he's no doubt a very competent player.
some notes to future self for review:
- it was very good to play against a backpedaller; ACD players really don't use backpedallers nor do they know how to backpedal, so it's a breath of fresh air, even if I get absolutely own'd.
- my missile LW play is legitimately GARBAGE. EN management is nonexistent, my jousts are terrible - my excuse is that I haven't been grinding ACFA really for a while now. i should play more versus arachne and hawk tbh
- my PA bombing isn't terrible, but it isn't great either. I leaned too heavily on DK's build being supposedly "super meta", which is true versus most ACD players, but it's not an instant-win condition. i still need to play the build competently (and i'll also need to stay near the ground more) to actually win.
- i never used Red Baron (my "main") because I thought the matchup would be extremely unfavorable due to Iron's builds universally having long range sniping capabilities; maybe I should've given it a try? but my satellite play has been, quite frankly, sloppy AF. and imo, Red Baron would struggle versus backpedallers, but this was never a huge issue since ACD players simply don't backpedal as much. today I learned.
- first few rounds with heavies were... rough, mostly because I chose the wrong heavy, and because I chose the wrong playstyle - with the hawk inspired AC, I forgot I didn't have a PA bomb so I threw the match towards the end; with Nilan2, I forgot it had a plasma gun for hanger; and with Nilan, it took me a little bit to get used to the purge timings on the railcannon. my excuse? i haven't played heavies properly in a few months. probably cope, i'm a bad player, but i'll be better if I actually learn from my mistakes.
