4Sadly, I see the charm in this game, I say sadly, because I have played it far too late in life. I can imagine getting an SNES, and spending tons of time and loving all over this in 1991, but here as a bitter old man in 2023 I just see it for what it is. Clunky platforming, and boss fights where most the time sitting still and swinging will suffice, or just blasting magic til the cows come home to win. The city building is a neat aspect, and it was cool seeing a bunch of new items, and having to work with one city to help another, I liked that, and I do agree it is the best part of this game. When you break it down though its just a repetitious grind. Dry up a marsh/snow burn a bush or two, close the portals fight the bosses. The music is haunting at times and adds a nice touch to the game, I can imagine glaring in wonder in a dark room only lit by a CRT and being immersed by it as a kid.
