------------------------------------------

The idea of the filler videos was originally to just give me a break from my usual Ancient DOS Games duties. As such, filler videos are typically (thought not always) done faster and with less effort. They also turned out to be more popular than the actual episodes at first (this actually varies considerably) so while I was originally going to do one filler every 10 episodes, I quickly shortened this to one every five episodes.

Additional Information and Corrections:

* Yes the audio quality is even worse than usual for the sub30 ADG episodes. Those strange humming noises are what vehicles sound like when running noise removal tools on the audio stream.

* There's been more developments with getting 5 1/4 disks working since I originally made this video. One of them I've mentioned further below.

* One other difficulty with 5 1/4 disks is that, unlike the drives for 3 1/2 disks, if you do any file writing with a low-density disk in a hi-density drive, the disk will never again work properly in a low-density drive even though that's its format. The reason is because of the physical size of the read/write head between the two different drive types. Not sure how this was compensated for with 3 1/2 disks.

* Yes, the disks I'm showing off there are for Thexder, which I ended up doing an episode of not long after this filler! :)

* It appears there's been a new development in getting files off of these old disks. If you head on over to http://ascii.textfiles.com/archives/2503 you can find information on a special conversion kit you can get which will allow you to plug a 5 1/4" drive into a USB port. This is not a simple procedure though and you may need some additional stuff so make sure you read the article fully before deciding to go this route!

* In case you want a more direct link to purchase the Floppy to USB conversion kit, here you go: http://shop.deviceside.com/prod/FC5025 - It's still a good idea to read the article at the previous link first though because the process for using this thing is quite involved.
