Advanced Dungeons and Dragons is the Dungeons and Dragons they are playing on Stranger Things, Not 5th Edition D&D
If there is any game that can say it is the legacy of Gary Gygax it is Advanced Dungeons and Dragons and not 5th edition D&D.(Or Castles and Crusades) the best of Gygax before WOTC took over the Dungeons and Dragons IP. This is the game that defines D&D for 99% of us. AD&D is the birthplace of the OSR and the game everyone should own.
Ok, this is the 2nd edition of AD&D but it still holds true that this game is the best of Dungeons and Dragons and is better than anything WOTC has made for their D20 fantasy game.
