Lore:
Haruko (Haru) lived with her parents in the slums before she was traded off in order to pay some debt.
After Haruko's parents traded her off when she was 6 years old, she was forced to mine for coal along with other children. Some of those children were traded off, while others willingly worked to get coal only to earn a few cents a day.
These coal mines were in the lowest parts of 'domes', beneath the underground city, it was where the poorest of poor people lived. (the hierarchy of the city is that the wealthy live above the surface, will be explained in other videos)
While enslaved, Haru's enslaver would constantly beat her and the other children. One day, she meets Takkun, a boy who willingly chose to work as a miner in order to earn some money to support his sick mother.They become friends and Haru even begins to have feelings for Takkun, one day the enslaver beats Takkun for 'slacking off' during work, even though he was just talking with Haru. Haru sees this and she gets angry and throws a rock at the enslaver, this causes him to get mad and beat Haru instead. Takkun tells her that she 'shouldn't do that' but Haru says she will 'protect him no matter what' and explains to him about her healing ability (she only knows about her passive healing ability at the time, she didn't know about the other ability)
A few years later Takkun demanded to be paid at least a little more as his mother was very ill and he needed the money. The enslaver was furious after hearing this and beat Takkun, Haru saw this and decided she was finally done putting up with this evil man. So she got her pickaxe and snuck behind the enslaver while he was busy inspecting the coal.
She wacked him on the side of the head and beat him to death with the pickaxe.
Takkun witnesses all of this and is shocked and scared by Haru's actions. When she approaches him to help him up he calls her a "monster" and tells her to "stay away". Haru is hurt by this and runs away, leaving the coal mines and Takkun behind.
After running for hours Haru finally makes it to a truck load stop, she sneaks into one of the crates not knowing that these trucks are headed towards the surface and that they were military trucks.
After arriving to the surface, Haru peaks out of the crate and is surprised at how beautiful the outside world was, until now she has never even seen sunlight.
(What happens to Haruko next will be explained in later lore)
