Somehow, despite how convenient the start point and how well curated a path there is, we had never made the trip up Mangere Mountain before - the focus was always on Mt Eden, or One Tree Hill, for their views of Auckland city and the Waitemata harbour. However I would say that the views of the Manukau harbour and across the southern reaches of the city are in many ways better, and it was certainly more peaceful.

This was also done as part of an effort to walk the equivalent of a marathon across the month of May, raising money for the Heart Foundation. Please consider supporting this cause.
