Even though the rivalry between the Cleveland Guardians and the Kansas City Royals isn’t a very famous one, some bad blood between the two teams is known to exist nonetheless. It is attributed to the 19-1 loss for the Kansas City Royals against the Cleveland Guardians on May 16 of the 2011 season. Some refer to it as the Vin Mazzaro game because he gave up 14 runs in just over two innings. This shattering loss for the Kansas City Royals helped develop a grudge among the fans towards Cleveland. With a lot of young blood in both teams, a fully developed rivalry between the two in the future seems likely. Much like the Twins, this will be the 1st playoff encounter between the two division rivals.
