Alice Madness Returns (PC) Review – NOT Just a ZELDA Clone!
But if you do enjoy yourself a good Zelda title, then Alice is definitely a good tie over. Madness Returns is a good deal darker thematically than her Hyrulian counterpart—you’ve got stuff like rape, murder, and suicide—and you get some top-notch art design featuring all your favorite Lewis Carrol references, but the game really shines in terms of its platforming.
You spend most of your time double- and triple-jumping through these if-Dali-lived-in-the-19th-century sort of landscapes, and so a lot of the enjoyment with this one comes from simply moving around the environments. You also get a satisfying though simple combat component, and a bit of puzzle solving as well, to keep things fresh.
Anyway, I picked this one up when EA was offering a sale on their distribution platform Origin. $4.99, as I recall, and if you can find Madness Returns at that price again, then I’d definitely recommend pulling the trigger on it. Usually they ask $20 for it, though, so I’d just keep it on your “wish list” until they decide to get a little more amenable.
Thanks for watching, and until next time!
