This is a proof of concept for a small game project i'm working on in the Darkplaces Quake engine. This video demonstrates just a very rough idea of what i'm going for, and how far along things currently on.

About the alien: He's not scripted. The player and the alien are dropped into the map as is. The alien is set to roam the map. You cannot predict where the alien will be as you explore the map, as it will go just about anywhere. It's attack strength is staggering. Namely, he's a one hit kill.

On the other hand, you have no real way to defeat the alien. The flamethrower does not provide you with enough ammo to actually kill the beast, however, it does slow the alien down, giving you time to breath. In the final map when the objectives are in place, this will be absolutely vital, and will also help the player to get to junctions where he can close a door on the pursuing alien. This won't keep it from finding you again, but it will save you for the immediate moment.

Lot's of things obviously need work.

More to come.
