Alien Raid is a very obscure Spanish Commodore 64 game that conceptually resembles Atlantis. You pilot a spacecraft tasked with defending a planet from enemy forces. Unlike Atlantis, where you use turrets to defend and the game ends when all bases are destroyed, here the game can finish either when you run out of lives or when enemies destroy the entire planet you’re protecting.
The controls can feel a bit clunky, as the spacecraft never stops moving, requiring a high degree of precision to hit enemy ships. While the gameplay can be repetitive, it’s surprisingly not boring—enemy variety and a gradual increase in difficulty keep it engaging. Overall, it’s a simple yet enjoyable 80s space shooter.
