227All American has officially landed a fourth touchdown. The CW has given an early greenlight to the teen sports drama, before season three has even ended. That's not exactly a surprise, this isn't an underdog situation – All American is hugely popular on The CW and Netflix, with its based-on-a-true-story narrative proving to be compelling viewing for audiences and critics alike (it currently has a 96% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes).
"Though we're just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals, which allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season," said Mark Pedowitz, chairman and CEO of The CW (via Variety).
Inspired by the real life of professional American football player Spencer Paysinger, All American follows Compton high-school kid Spencer James, who's recruited to play football for Beverly High in Beverly Hills.
