Hello everyone, LowKeyNerd here with a recap of all things D.Va since the games initial launch. I’ve decided to leave out the minor bug tweaks as well as the developer’s rationale. I will link to the original source so that you can quickly readthrough the developer’s rationale if you want. My reason for doing this is that the developer’s rationale has changed over time due to the various changes in the game affecting their decision making. You can find the full script of what I am about to say in the Description below.
That said, let’s get started. D.Va has been one of the most fined tuned heroes on the OW roster since her release on November 9, 2015.
November 9th, 2015 beta
- Matrix was unable to be toggled and had a 10 second cooldown after a single use.
- Self-Destruct took 4 seconds to explode and D.Va could die from her own ultimate.
- Boosters lasted up to 2 seconds and were on a 5 second CD.
- Mech health was 100 and mech armor was 400.
February 9, 2016 beta (nerf)
- Defense Matrix size decreased by 50%.
- Matrix shape changed to be more cylindrical than conical.
February 18, 2016 beta (buff)
- D.Va’s mech after calldown will now no longer be moved-locked or aim-locked (bug).
- Self-Destruct now generates passively even when D.Va is dead or her mech is destroyed.
- Call Mech cost decreased by 20%.
July 19, 2016 (buff) Season 1
- Defense matrix CD decreased from 10 seconds to 1 second. The resource bar was added and now matrix can last a total of 4 seconds at full charge. Matrix takes 10 seconds to recharge from 0 charge. Matrix will start regenerating following a 0.5 second delay.
- Self-Destruct decreased by 15%, explosion delay reduced from 4 seconds to 3 seconds, and the explosion no longer damages Pilot D.Va.
September 1, 2016 (nerf) Season 2
- Matrix will start recharging after a 1 second delay.
September 13, 2016 (fun fact) Season 2
- Mercy Play of the Game rate while using Resurrect was supposedly decreased.
November 15, 2016 (buff) Season 2
- Call Mech cost decreased by 20%.
- Mech health increased to 200, armor remains at 400.
- Movement speed while firing has been increased by 25%.
January 24, 2017 (nerf) Season 3
- Health increased from 200 to 400. Armor decreased from 400 to 200.
- Primary fire bullet damage decreased from 3 to 2. Number of bullets per shot increased from 8 to 11.
February 28, 2017 (buff) Season 4
- Projectiles no longer need to travel a minimum distance before they can be blocked.
March 3, 2017 (fun fact) Season 4
- There was a bug that made D.Va’s defense matrix not work if a hero stood between her and the hero that was firing. For example, a Reinhart could stand in front of a Bastion and then the bastion could shoot through Defense Matrix.
July 27, 2017 (buff?) Season 5
- New Defense Matrix voice lines were added to the game.
August 29, 2017 (buff?) Season 6
- Supposedly fixed the black screen glitch when D.Va gets knocked out of mech.
August 29, PTR (change-TBD) Season 6
- D.Va can now fire a small barrage of rockets. The maximum damage of these rockets were nerfed soon after launch by 25%.
- Defense Matrix now only lasts a maximum of 2 seconds.
- D.Va can now shoot while using Boosters.
TBD (change-buff) Season 6
- Matrix will now take 7.5 seconds to recharge from 0 charge.
