All Major Missables in Final Fantasy 7 in order (PS1 / 1997 Original)
Final Fantasy 7 has all sorts of missable items, weapons, Materia and quests which, if you miss the first time round, are gone for good.
This video runs through every single major missable as they come up in the game, from things you can accidentally run past to objectives which, if you fail, can see you miss out on key items and from completing certain side quests.
I should note though there are some obscure consumables and items you can buy from shops or steal from enemies which are technically missable, for most players going for a Platinum Trophy or wanting to get all Materia and see every side quest, this video will cover everything you need so you don’t miss out on anything major.
That said, I do point out some optional weapons and items which aren’t vital to your playthrough but are missable you might want to pick up. Things that are nice to have, essentially.
I’ll also outline moments in the game where you can start missable sidequests as they come up.
Also, to clarify some other commonly considered missables:
- If you miss W-Item, Bahamat Zero and Phoenix Materia (all found in the late game) you can dig them up at the Bone Village before you can visit the final dungeon.
- A common misconception is the cave you visit to get Vincent’s final Limit Break and best weapon has to be visited in Disc 2 - you can get these items entirely on Disc 3 / once you have revisited Midgar.
- Alexander Materia is technically missable if you don't collect it before you leave the cave after it drops, but this was omitted because a) the specific steps to unlock can be done at any time - the Great Glacier isn't locked off after moving on in the story - and b) the chances of you unlocking it then leaving the cave without picking it up is slim.
- If you missed Choco / Mog first time round, from when you get the Highwind onward, it's reported any Chocobos you catch that appear in the Chocobo Farm's fenced area outside can give you one.
