This is all my B-roll from UH Vs. UCR Doubleheader Game 2 (4/5/25)
After winning the first game, 4-3, the Rainbow Wāhine Softball team pulled off the doubleheader sweep in dramatic fashion, 3-2, on Saturday over the UC Riverside Highlanders at Rainbow Wāhine Softball Stadium on Saturday.
Neither UH nor UCR saw a single run through the first six innings. Both teams had chances to score in prior innings with runners on base, but both teams got shut down.
By the third inning, UCR had racked up seven hits while UH had yet to log one. UH did get their first hit from Izabella Martinez, but she was tagged out going for second.
In the seventh inning, Riverside finally broke the ice with back-to-back home runs from Haley Saole and Jackie Alday, but UH pulled a rabbit out of the hat when it was their turn.
UH loaded the bases quickly on singles from Cierra Yamamoto, Ellyanna Cinzori, and Larissa Goshi to begin the bottom of the seventh. Martinez hit an RBI single up the middle that was enough to score Yamamoto and Cinzori to tie the score at 2-2. Milan Ah Yat juiced a fielder's choice to the shortstop to allow Martinez to get to second, but it became an RBI when Goshi was able to slide home for the final arithmetic.
Despite Riverside outhit UH, 11-7, they had a whopping 12 runners left on base to UH's six.
UH will now hit the road for a three-game series with the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners beginning with a single match on Friday, Apr. 11 at 11:30 a.m. HST. They will have a doubleheader the following day on Saturday, Apr. 12 at 9 a.m. HST and 11:30 a.m. HST.
