A review of a 1/7 scale Abigail Williams figure from Fate Grand Order, by Amakuni which disappointed me. This is the first Amakuni figurine I've seen with a QC disaster. To be clear, Amakuni did not screw up the paint job during the production of the figurine. The problem was they rushed the production to prevent a delay, resulting in an oversight on quality control.

When i unboxed the figure for the first time, her left arm was already detached from the figure, which isn't unusual. Sometimes parts fall off themselves during transportation. However, the problem was the paint wasn't dry but they repackaged the figure anyway in the box. They rushed out the product. The arm fell off very early itself - before the paint dried, not during the shipping process, transferring all its paint over to the figure's hair.

This explains why only one arm, and it's a removable part already detached in the box, is the only part with paint scratches, while other parts are unaffected. The arm that has fallen off was rubbing against the figure's hair all the time during transportation. That's why her hair has so many black paint spots, it all came from her left arm. Her second optional head is perfectly painted and unaffected because it was in a separate compartment in the box, not in direct contact with the detached arm. Another evidence that the paint wasn't dry, the pegs on her torso and left arm are also stained in grey paint.

Amakuni's quality control team wouldn't have noticed this because the problem was created only AFTER the inspection process, AFTER the figure is packaged in the box. But it was definitely a bad decision to package a figure with wet paint.

The conclusion is, what you are seeing in my case, is probably very rare, but I have to review a product based on what I've received. There might be a few other duds out there but their numbers are probably very low. Meanwhile, I'm planning to send this figure to a friend of mine, who is experienced with modding gunpla and fixing figures to have her repaired. We'll see how much of the affected parts can be repainted.
