A playthrough of SNK's 1995 versus-fighting game for the Neo Geo AES, Double Dragon.

Played through as Abobo on the normal difficulty level.

Double Dragon for the Neo Geo was quite a departure from the original belt-scrawling beat 'em up arcade titles. Rather than having you walk down endless stress spin-kicking everything in sight, Technos' final Double Dragon production is a one-on-one versus fighter that pits the series' familiar faces (and a few new ones) against each other. And since this one was developed by Technos, it's miles better than that *other* DD fighting game, Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls.

The whole set-up is pretty conventional as far as fighting games go. Each of the characters have "stats" gauging how effective they are in different areas, and they've all got their own personal story lines to go through the single-player game with.

In what seems like an attempt to capitalize on the (anticipated?) popularity of the 1994 Double Dragon movie - the one with Scott Wolf, Alyssa Milano, and Robert Patrick starring- it adapts a few of the movie's characters and an FMV sequence. I still find it a bit strange to start this game watching a video mashup of (what in my mind will always be) Terminator 2 and Party of Five.
