AMD has recently introduced its Ryzen™ Embedded 5000 series processors, which are designed to provide high-performance and power-efficient solutions for enterprise-grade switching and firewall applications. These processors are built with the latest “Zen 3” x86 CPU core architecture, which offers superior performance and power efficiency for midrange AMD embedded processor portfolios.
The Ryzen™ Embedded 5000 processors are designed to meet the specific needs of enterprise networking security, and their thermal design power (TDP) profiles range from 65W to 105W. The processors are scalable up to 16 cores/32 threads, making them ideal for space and thermally constrained rackmount and blade systems.
The new processors come with a host of features that make them ideal for enterprise applications. These include up to DDR4-3200 dual-channel with ECC, extended RAS features, 24 PCIe® Gen4 lanes, AM4 socket, and enterprise-grade RAS features. The processors are built to provide enhanced 5-year 100% on-time product reliability for business-critical applications, and they offer a 5-year product manufacturing availability.
The Ryzen™ Embedded 5000 series processors are designed for robust design flexibility. They offer up to 24 lanes of PCIe® Gen4 connectivity (CPU only), and they are expandable up to 36 lanes of PCIe® Gen4 when paired with the AMD X570 chipset. These processors also support the AM4 socket with up to DDR4-3200, providing a wide range of options for users.

There are four models of Ryzen™ Embedded 5000 series processors currently available, each with varying specifications to meet different needs. The AMD Ryzen™ Embedded 5950E Processor offers 16 CPU cores and 32 threads, with a CPU max frequency of 3.4GHz and a CPU base frequency of 3.05GHz. The TDP for this processor is 105W.
The AMD Ryzen™ Embedded 5900E Processor has 12 CPU cores and 24 threads, with a CPU max frequency of 3.7GHz and a CPU base frequency of 3.35GHz. The TDP for this processor is also 105W.
The AMD Ryzen™ Embedded 5800E Processor offers 8 CPU cores and 16 threads, with a CPU max frequency of 3.7GHz and a CPU base frequency of 3.4GHz. The TDP for this processor ranges from 65W to 100W.
Finally, the AMD Ryzen™ Embedded 5600E Processor offers 6 CPU cores and 12 threads, with a CPU max frequency of 3.6GHz and a CPU base frequency of 3.3GHz. The TDP for this processor is 65W.
