Testing the Intel i5-12400 CPU, we found the CPU to be overall compelling value when compared against AMD, but it faces strong competition from Intel's own i3-12100 for absolute budget-priced gaming CPUs. Right now, Intel is lining-up to fiercely position itself in both gaming and production tests across the entire price range, and AMD is behind overall. It still has a few advantages as an alternative to Intel Alder Lake (12th Gen) CPUs, but they're becoming more constrained. In this review, we'll talk about the 2700X, the R5 3600, R5 5600X, the R7 5800X, the R7 3700X, and more from AMD; we'll also cover several generations of Intel CPUs and talk about whether it's worth upgrading.
