In a recent interview, AMD discussed RDNA 3 power consumption, performance and design challenges. But did they accidentally CONFIRM that RDNA 3 / RX 7000 GPUs are LESS power hungry than RTX 40 Lovelace by Nvidia? The power consumption / TDP of the next gen graphics cards has been a hot topic, with HUGE requirements in power being reported. But AMD also touched on RDNA 3 performance, which has long been rumoured be a HUGE improvement over RDNA 2 in both gaming and ray tracing performance.
With AMD pushing significant performance per watt improvements for RDNA 2, we can see why Navi 3X might win the power consumption war against RTX Lovelace. But will they win the hardware specs, performance and price (value) battle?
