AMD Hybrid Ray Tracing Patent Discovered | RTX Super Pricing | 3950X Hits 5.4GHz
645In this video we take a look at an AMD hybrid ray tracing patent that has been discovered, first filed back in late 2017. Hybrid ray tracing takes both a software and hardware approach to ray tracing acceleration, which (in theory) should provide the best of both worlds by providing just enough of the die dedicated to speeding up the ray tracing calculation, but using software (and the typical shaders of the GPU) to do some of the other work thus not eating up as much die space for RT cores.
We also have the RTX super pricing which has leaked, though there is still a little confusion of what happens to the current RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 models and if they will co-exist with the current RTX 20 series or if the older cards will go EOL.
AMD's Ryzen 9 3950X processor has hit 5.4GHz thanks to LN2, which means that the CPU destroys another cinebench record - again.,
And finally the first entries for Gen 12 / Tiger Lake (willow cove GPU) have been spotted in the linux open driver.
