RT/DXR does not work in RADV/Proton right now. Without using environment variables(RADV_PERFTEST=rt VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11), the RT related settings simply don't do anything, except RTX Light Boost, which seems to just increase how bright things are, and I doubt is even a real RT feature.
If you force-enable RTX, it's very unstable. Can't even get in game for me.
I hear VKD3D does enable RTX features on nvidia binaries, but I have no RTX GPU to test, and don't want to deal with nvidia.
When this came out, UE4 support was still very poor and I couldn't play it at a reasonable framerate. In just two years, brand new games in brand new engines work day1 very often, and problems are very quickly fixed in new games. Valve has really done something amazing with Proton/Wine contributions.
