Hyped up in preperation for the best Fighting game of all time, Rise of the Robots was released in 1994 onto pretty much all platforms. After recieving awards all across the industry and rave magazine reviews, this game broke the hearts of many and could have single handedly been the beginning of the end for believing in review scores.

What a wasted opportunity the Amiga CD32 version of the game was. It is exactly the same as the 13 disk AGA version just put onto a cd. This version could have been the best version of all (Bar gameplay) having redbook audio for music and the extended cutscenes of the PC DOS version.

The 10 disk ECS version and 13 disk AGA version on the other hand contains quite alot and you wouldnt expect a developer to greenlight this many disks for a poor game. I would of expected even shorter cutscenes resembling the genesis or snes version. For the most part this is just a 320x200 port of the dos version which has a very vibrant 640x400 resolution and a few more cutscenes.

The Amiga version is known for being the easiest version of the game by far with just a simple flying kick to win. Playing on Hard this tactic doesnt work as the ai will constantly block and you cant damage it in this stance. For every hit you make the ai will instantly counter and you can very easily get stuck in a defensive animation and be torn to shreds.

It seems to be the slowest version of the game as well although thats a game issue I think. On final fight the ai melts and all of a sudden the frame rate doubles. More cpu power can also send the game into warp speed mode. I did encounter a bug at the end (could be emu bug) where the music grinded to a halt. I countered this by messing with cpu settings, but I wounder if it appears on a real CD32. I should note the framerate is dos version isnt constant either , noted by the background audio changing speeds.
