Terrible conversion/version/port. Much harder than the original game.
The place I fail at is because I can't get through, not enough room. A few tubes before this one had just 1 pixel margin of error. The bird's flapping distance from bottom to top is 45 pixels, the tube I crashed at only had a 43 pixels opening. So, they became narrower and narrower, and now, no matter how skilled, it's impossible to progress.
The first tubes had everything from 47 to 73 pixels of open space between them.
The bird won't even fly upwards the millisecond fire is pressed (slight delay), so it's very hard to get through the later openings as you almost had no space for error, so you HAD to press fire when the bird was 1 pixel from the bottom to not hit the top.
When I got to the later tubes, I had to start playing in slow-motion. This is something I've done in a lot of games in the past. I usually play in 12.5fps (1/4th of the speed) or 25fps (half the speed), so chose 12.5fps. I'm using the latest version of WinUAE and did my previous 2 longplays in it, but no slow-motion was used, just pure 50fps all the way, because I wanted to try out the supposedly fixed sound delay I always got when recording. Turns out it's finally fixed, BUT, it doesn't work well with slow-motion, which I had no problem with in the older version of WinUAE I used before. So, now when I recorded at 12.5, it became 12.99 when I checked the AVI files afterwards, and the sound got corrupted. Never had sound corrupted before. I thought of just silencing that part, but kept it in anyway. Even the frame rate got a bit uneven in the end. So, with the latest version, I have to keep to recording in 50fps only, and use older version for slow-motion. 2.8.1 is my preferred WinUAE version.
I reloaded saved states like 150 times to get through those 29 openings. Kept hitting the bottom and top, even in super slow-motion because of the delay and like no room for error. Had to be precise timing.
Edit: OK, turned out this version was OLD, and a new WAY superior version exist: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=63735. I longplayed it here:
