I've not seen the movie, but according to what I've read, it SUCKS, and this game is MUCH better than the movie itself.

Here's a part from the manual I found funny:

"A BEGINNERS GUIDE TO THE WORST MOVIE OF ALL TIME

Is Plan 9 the worst movie of all time? It's not a tough question to answer. Yes it is. It really is the most flea ridden amateurish waste of celluloid and sticky back plastic ever to be foisted onto an unsuspecting and undeserving public. Nobody should have to sit through this film without some advance warning of the absolute futility of the whole shambolic rambling mess that it is. If you think that this is overstating the case somewhat, then you obviously haven't sat down and watched the film. But be warned. when you die and go to Heaven, and God is asking you to account for your time, and you say "Well, I attempted to use my time as profitable as possible", don't be at all surprised when He retorts "Get real mate, you wasted at least seventy eight minutes watching Plan 9 from Outer Space."

This game has already been longplayed for the Amiga and can be found on World of Longplays' YouTube channel. As that old longplay has several flaws, I decided it needed to be redone. As I like to mention the differences when I do a new and improved longplay of an older one, here are some of the things this longplay features that the other one is lacking:

*Intro music. I tried several versions of the disks and some didn't have intro music for some reason.

*Not cracked, so not forced to type a certain thing, like he had to "TKK RULES!". I show my version is not cracked by first typing something random, as it fails and I get another chance. What I find weird though is that after I've typed the right word from the manual, it says "seem ta be cracked by PBA", donno if that's a crack group or something that belongs to the movie/game that I just don't get. The message in the cracked version sounds way more suitable, as it's "Yeah, okay ya seem ta be da real thing, now go git my film!". However, I could not find a clean IPF/SPS version of the disks, only cracked versions, so I went with the WHDLoad preinstalled one (only running the game files, not via the .slave).

*The correct background at 17:56, whereas the other longplay has the beach background. Guess that's what you get for using a cracked version (same thing can be said about no intro music, I guess).

*I showed more things, like breaking the couch, using the controls of the film player, etc.

*Much shorter loading times.

*The thunder effect before entering Vlad The Impaler St.

*At 19:16, I could have chosen "No, I cannot bow to bribery", like the other longplayer did, thus save 50 "esc" and be thrown to jail immediately, but I found out that I don't really need that currency (or any of those 4), so I chose to try and bribe instead for the extra fun. Btw, the dude I got to talk to here is not the same as in his version. Maybe random each time playing?

*15 minutes shorter, even though I did/showed more things.

There are several things I wanted to say to people, but if I chose that option, they wouldn't talk to me again. For example, if I told the hardware store assistant "Nice piece of straw" before getting the shovel, I couldn't get the shovel as he wouldn't talk to me again, not even if I left and came back.

Dying is possible, and one of the places I noticed was in the water. If I don't equip the scuba gear fast enough, the fish swims away and I'm presented with this message, followed by the headstone from the intro with "RIP" on it, so nothing special, hence why I didn't include it in this video:

"Unfortunately, there's only one fish down here, and it's not you, although you may come back as one in the next life. But this one is at an end, as you have drowned.

Could also die in the cave with the bats, if I didn't bring the photograph. That one was a bit more graphical though. The screen got a bloody/dripping cut (again, with a message underneath), then RIP. Still, couldn't be bothered to include them.

The sound pops/clicks in the intro music annoys the fuck out of me. Checking the instruments in the .mod file shows no pops/clicks, nor when playing it... so yeah, sound emulation is not perfect in WinUAE, and no settings I've tried fixes it. Been like this forever though, and only hearable (yeah, not a real word, but explains it better than, let's say: "noticeable") in some music. The ingame tune has it too, but veeery faintly.
