Amiga Longplay P.O.W.

Played By: Eino
Played at maximum difficulty. I shot some of the hostages and didn't get rated as 'hero'. Most of the scenarios are very easy, but for some peculiar reason the beach was incredibly difficult to complete and I couldn't finish it again even though I replayed it better tens of times. Hostages are a major hindrance and always in front of the most active spots (those traitors deserve to die for shielding the enemy). Sometimes no ammunition appears and it will quickly run out. Sometimes grenades will run out near the end of a scenario and damage is taken rapidly while the screen gets filled with junk. It's not possible to choose when to use the grenades and instead these are shot in default towards vehicles and missiles. I could go on complaining about the several frustrating flaws, but overall P.O.W. is quite playable. However, it could be much better with some minor changes.
Manual says: "There are 3 ranks and 3 corresponding missions available to you. However, you cannot simply choose your rank and mission; you must earn it. You must prove your ability at the boot camp target range by hitting as many targets as possible with as few misses as possible. The better you do, the higher your rank and more challenging your mission."
"Should you be lucky enough to complete a less difficult mission, you will be promoted and allowed to continue to the next mission."
"If you get through all of the missions by finally rescuing our 6 men and escaping to the ocean, you'll be promoted to the rank of "HERO.""
First Aid kits come twice as often after completing the radio tower scenario and enemy fire will have a weakened effect on health after completing the armory scenario. The game is designed in such a way that some of the scenarios need to be played at least twice. I first tried to take a shorter route, but the camp seemed impossible to clear if I hadn't visited the armory first. -
