Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs - Part 2 - Confusion and Progression

So... it's been over a year since I last played this game. In the end of the last video I was in the bathtub area looking at the valve, and when I started this video I assumed the thing I had most recently done was turning that valve. After wandering around trying to figure out how to open the gate for at least 15 minutes off-screen, I looked up walkthroughs. They all said to go through that gate but none of them said how to open the gate. One walkthrough even showed the guy pulling the bathtub lever again and walking out to find the gates open, but I guess it wasn't the same part as I was on. So finally, I found a walkthrough that showed me an unfamiliar scene around the point I was at, and I went to the place where the scene happened and it turns out I was in the wrong area for 20-30 minutes.
Also, a few more things:
1. This video that was supposed to be in recording from 1am to 1:30am ended up starting at 1:10 and ending at 2:10.
2. I planned on playing this (and/or winning Amnesia: Justine) as a Halloween special, but I was too busy at the time.
