although i havent been too active on this channel as of recent, i was super stoked to see this level debut and had to give my two cents on this project. following the 20th anniversary of radiohead's album 'amnesiac', avakai has managed to deliver a very fitting tribute to this prolific album. ive been following avakai a bit throughout the process of this levels development, and i can safely say this is up there as one of my favorite levels this year.

it's hard to pinpoint what exactly i find so mesmorizing about this level, but upon a few playthroughs i can say with some level of confidence that the introduction of such irregular structures has brought me lots of joy. from the unorthodox perspectives presented in the first cube, to the jagged, thorn-esque brambles within the one ship part (which in it of itself is a nice homage to the radiohead album of the same name), each section of the level presents its own sense of identity, a valuable juxtaposition given the rather homogenous color scheme throughout.

with this said, i do feel that the level tapers off towards the end. although this level looks stunning in full detail, the poor optimization near the tail end of this project leaves more to be desired. moreover, the last part, while not egregious by any means, falls into the trap of a phenomena i've dubbed "box meta". compared to the extremely unorthodox designs of previous sections, this part returns to a sense of normality for no good reason, and i think could have been replaced with a much more endearing section.

there's not much to note with the gameplay. i thought it was kind of annoying to get a hang of, but i also managed to fluke this from 17%, so i would recommend those that want to try this to play in ldm and run through the level a few times in practice mode. that cube maze near the end is brutal.
