Happy New Year, y'all!

About 11 months ago (where does the time go?), I uploaded an AMV which was parodying Barbie Girl. While the lyrics could have been considered offensive (depending on your sensitivity), it was pretty clear that the intent of the song was to make fun of the original. The original Barbie Girl song is much less.....clear-cut, and the ambiguity made me a bit unsure about if this was the kind of song that should be left to fade away. I don't think I'm particularly woke (I watch ALL KINDS of anime for crissakes), but when the message is something that could have come out of Twilight or 50 Shades, I'm open to considering if something should be treated as a dirty little secret.

But then I was watching Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, and the first guest was Aqua (who have aged....as people should), so I guess I've been over-thinking it. Also, it made me obsess over the certainty that I had an AMV with the actual Barbie Girl song, and I was right! (Yay! I'm not senile yet!)

It's not the most impressive or varied AMV, but I do think the usage of Evangelion was a perfect fit. Leave it to Ikari Gendo to really drive home the ick factor, if you're aware of Ayanami Rei's origins and purpose for creation. Yeaaaah.....Evangelion be like that.
