An Xcom Lite that can be Tough! Don’t Underestimate the Dreadlands! – Dreadlands – #03
Dreadlands is an Indie, Isometric Turn Based Tactics RPG, a sort of Xcom like / lite set in a Post Apocalyptic hellscape of a world; cool!
Pick 1 of three factions, and lead your merry band of freedom fighters, eager to carve a piece out of their ruined world for themselves.
There are The Scrappers; hothead max max, tinker types.
The Tribe-kin; nature freaks with a magic totem fetish.
Or The Skarbacks; freakin formerly enslaved Cybernetic warriors eager for revenge on the world that wronged them!✊
Guess who I picked?!
Then, wander around on the worldmap, entering into locations to fight in turn-based, tactics battles for your share of the past, and build a future with your Post Apocalyptic posse.
The combat in Dreadlands is very influenced Xcom, with an ap system, an ability to double move, and an Overwatch system present, enabling you to lock down fields of fire with your squad.
Differing from Xcom, Melee is a major focus for your team in Dreadland, as you can “Melee Lock” your opponent when either you or them enter into melee range, causing an attack of opportunity if any try to get away, and preventing either from using a ranged attack, as they are locked into a mano-mano / monster battle for their life!
You can manage your base too: healing injured troops, buying items at the shop to gear up your crew, and recruiting new fighters at the barracks.
You can also upgrade the base with resources found scavenging locations on the worldmap as well.
Online Co-op is present, in case you want a human to play with, or against, as there is a pvp mode present as well, toggled on / off from with the campaign mod as you wish.
A good option for those so inclined.
Anyway, Dreadlands is a fun Indie Tactics RPG in an interesting Post Apocalyptic setting.
