Welcome to the fifth installment of Analyzing Melody. This is a series that focuses on, predominantly, the element of Melody in music with the occasional commentary on harmony, counterpoint, and form. It will look at a variety of musics but mostly various periods of the Common Practice Period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic), early 20th century musics, and retro VGM (NES - PS1).
So if you've ever wondered how to write or analyze melodies, check this series out! It takes you through all of the little steps so that you can better understand not only the individual melody, but melodic composition as a whole.
In this installment we take on Gloomy Memories from Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow on the Nintendo DS which was composed by either Michiru Yamane or Masahiko Kimura!
