Animated Tile Maps in Unreal Engine 5 [Mega Man the Rulers of Space]
I created an Animated Tile Map system for #UnrealEngine5 to use in #MegaManRS. Those are NOT Actors placed like tiles! It's SO MUCH faster! When they were animated Actors it was eating a lot of horsepower, making the framerate unstable.
Also integrated it into my Time Control system. The Time Control system can control time for individual Actors. Time Sources can have child sources, affecting scaling/pausing/resuming in a Hierarchy.
Linking an Actor to a Time Source can:
Scale/Freeze/Pause the Actor's time
Stop/Start Actor ticking
Pause/Resume Audio produced by that Actor
The Time Modes supplied by a Time Source are:
Flowing: time is moving forward (but may be scaled)
Frozen: Time is frozen, but Actors still respond to things
Paused: Time is frozen and the Actor's tick is shut off
You can Pause one Time Source while another remains Flowing, in any configuration.
