Another Oil Change - Jeep Wrangler on Mobil1 5W-20 vs 10W-30
After running Mobil1 5W-20 in my 1998 Jeep Wrangler with the Inline 4 motor for a month, I decided to go back to 10W-30. After the Jeep warms to operating temperature, the 5W-20 oil pressure only idles at 10 psi instead of the usual 20 psi. The engine runs perfectly fine with the lighter weight oil but since I am going on a long trip to Minnesota, I decided it would be better to run 10W-30. Also these Jeep motors are designed to run 10W-30 all year round, winter and summer.
Next I show you some other products I bought and have been using for a long time now. I have been using the NOS Octane Booster with Nitro Methane for over a year now, and I love it. I also bought a box of Armor All Ultra Shine Tire and Trim Shine and a bottle of Black Magic Tire Wet.
Next I drive around the block to get the engine up to operating temperature. I give it a few good pulls. Once she is up to operating temperature, I record the engine audio to show how the engine is running with 5W-20.
I then empty the oil pan showing the color of the oil, while flowing out of the Jeep. Then I fill up with the 10W-30 and let her warm back up to operating temperature. I then record the engine audio again to show how the engine is running. I then end with a comparison with the 5W-20 to the 10W-30.
By the way I put the 5W-20 in at 161,084 miles and ran it until 161,638 miles.
