Cows are selectively bred and injected with hormones to produce more milk. Hormones are used in both small scale farms as well as large dairy farms.

The cows often suffer from udder infections, Mastitis and inflammations. 20 to 50% of dairy cows suffer from Mastitis which causes pain during milking. Hormones can cause labour like pains in cows. They cannot even walk properly due to heavy weight of udders.

Hormones in dairy products is also associated with precocious puberty in young girls and PCOS in women.
