A look at a Song Zhuge Nu opener for open land maps for China, including 1 game against an AI and 3 games against real players. Here is a written version of the build order:

- IO first and supervise mill
- 5 build mill
- 1 LC + House then wood
- +2 food (7 food)
- (IO return tax @20 mill gold)
- +1 (2) wood
- 2 to gold
- +1 (3) wood
- +5 (12) food (one new vil builds academy, prioritize influencing mill and LC)
@100% Academy if you've been on top of your taxes you have food and gold for Barbican, take 3 from food to join the 1 vil, so 4 building barbican. Rally 2 of them to gold (+2 (4) on gold) and the other 2 to wood. Also move 1 food vil to wood, so 8 on food. Together with tax that's enough for food and gold for ZNs, vils, and upgrades for now.
- Rest rally to wood
- Blacksmith+Range
- Before Song lands, build 1 or 2 more IO. Bounce them around supervising, collecting tax, and boosting blacksmith and archery range as required
Your first blacksmith upgrade depends on opponent. If they're building horsemen +1 dmg first and add a barracks, if they're building archers, +1 range armor first, if they're building nothing, rams first.
- You don't need to kill them. You just need to take good fights and punish greedy plays. Against 1TC you're building faster vils so have an eco advantage. Against an FC I'd recommend going in with just 1 ram quickly to soak TC fire and kill/idle vils behind your 1TC Song boom. Against a 2TC I'd recommend building 2 rams and killing the 2nd TC, grabbing a second TC behind the push if you're not going to kill them.
