Ape Escape 2 PS5 4K - Part 20 - Moon Base (Ending + Review)
0Finally got the chance to play the sequel to Ape Escape. Was it worth it? Definitely, though without one glaring issue, which was easily seen with every video. Emulation.
Pros of Ape Escape 2:

+ Engaging Level Design: Ape Escape 2 boasts diverse and imaginative level design. From bustling cities to futuristic landscapes, the environments are visually appealing and provide a varied and entertaining experience for players.
+ Charming Art Style: The game's colorful and cartoonish art style is charming, creating an endearing atmosphere. The character designs, especially those of the mischievous monkeys, contribute to the overall appeal of the game.
+ Responsive Controls: The controls are responsive and intuitive, allowing players to navigate the game world and use gadgets with ease. This contributes to a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience.

Cons of Ape Escape 2:

- Emulation for PS5 is abysmal.
There's not much to say that hasn't already been said about this series. It's a Collect-a-Thon type game, and you'll either love it or hate it. I really miss these types of games as they've been left in the dust for modern consoles, but getting the chance to play this game, even for 2002, it holds up really well. The gadgets are fun, the level design is spectacular and the characters are charming and relatable.
The biggest downside with this game, which has been talked about non-stop is the emulation for the PS5. There is a way around this, and that is to stream the game, considering it plays off the PS4 cloud, however, I didn't as I wasn't able to record the gameplay. Instead, I was left with the downloadable PS5 version and it's...filled with emulation bugs.
Outside the graphics department, there's a really fun game that's charming and worth playing. The game holds up pretty well and the capturing the monkeys, as well as being able to play through the game again as Spectre gives players a fresh experience worth revisiting.

Overall, Sony Computer Entertainment did a great job at capturing the spirit of the original, while building on the fundamentals (level design and gadgets). The only thing left that would capture my interest would be to fix the emulation as this would bump the game up to a nine. It's not perfect, but what it does, it does exceptionally well.
