Europe can be unforgiving at the best of times, but January brings with it an ominous air, a wicked chill in thoughts and deeds and a darkness nowhere on this planet can understand.
From this we bring you a line-up birthed from these cold times, a medley of dark metal forged in the shadowed corners of European sounds...

DIE KUR return to headline Retribution Alive's January event for the fourth year in a row. It's tradition and we love it! They are joined by German death metallers APOPHIS at Electrowerktz in Islington.

So far the diverse metalisation of Retribution Alive has breached the walls of such venues as the Intrepid Fox, Scala, The Lounge, Purple Turtle, Black Heart, The Dev, Electrowerktz, Unicorn, Nambucca, Underdog Gallery, Big Red, 12 Bar, New Cross Inn, Fiddlers Elbow, Wig & Gown, Amwell Arms, Upstairs @ The Garage, Kings Arms and the Plough & Harrow! Get along to January's edition at Electrowerktz!

Bands playing 7.00pm-11.00pm:

DIE KUR

Die Kur is a band of industrial metal from London. Formed in 1999 the band has released four official albums and shared a stage with the likes of Die Krupps, Cold In Berlin, Beholder, The Birthday Massacre and Meta-Stasis.

APOPHIS

Death Metal bursting with energy and excellent guitar work have always been two of the main trademarks of APOPHIS. Heavy melodies, dark and melancholic, yet aggressive at times, are typical for APOPHIS and hit straight into the metal heart. Brutal growls impart even more power and aggressiveness to their music. The groovy drumming, charged with thundering double-bass parts, breath-taking changes in speed and stirring arrangements put the finishing touches to their songs.
In their music and their show the musicians ignite an acoustic and optical fireworks magically captivating the audience.
