Appleseed EX is a Japanese-exclusive PS2 game made by Dream Factory, the same devs behind The Bouncer, Ehrgeiz, and Crimson Tears. Mechanically, this game is very similar to Crimson Tears, but mostly seems to reward you just running away from enemies. Casually I had a lot of trouble with this game, and so I learned the speedrun to beat it. This was the only speedrun I ever completed after finishing the game casually using speedrun strats. This run could have easily been World Record, but I got poor RNG on the mech sections, wherein no enemies dropped rocket launchers until very late in the sections. Bad rocket launcher drops in a run can lose you around 2-3 minutes depending on how out of control fights get. Worth noting as well that the final two boss fights can result in bad endings if you fail, which means a game over and unsuccessful run. Overall a cool game but can be a frustrating game to speedrun.
