**Please leave feedback on the Opening: 0:12 - 2:07 & Closing: 51:47 - 53:56 Thank You!**
I started this channel roughly one year ago for two reasons. The first was a hobby to keep me sane during the height of the pandemic. The second, and real reason was to celebrate gaming of all forms while honoring my growing up during gaming's evolution. When it began, it was with zero resources and my Xbox One's recording software. Now its 2021, I've learned a lot more and gotten a hold of better tools to give a better experience. In honor of having 50 subscribers, I went back and game my first video a proper presentation. It is with humility and pleasure that I give you our first segment - Final Fight: the Arcade version produced by Capcom. In 1989, Capcom arcade machines were utilizing the CP System Hardware. This game would be their seventh title to utilize this system and one of the most popular beat em-up titles of video game history. Originally, producer Yoshiki Okamoto previewed the game at various trade shows under the title "Street Fighter '89". Many changes were made along the way but the idea of the title was inspired by the Arcade version of Double Dragon II: The Revenge. Capcom's sales division desired to have a true sequel to the original Street Fighter. However, when arcade operators gave feedback that the title was nothing like Street Fighter, the game was changed to Final Fight. Many different ideas and inspirations influenced the games production. Originally, Ryu & Ken were going to be the games main protagonists but this was scrapped for a new plot and setting that would lead the Final Fight development team to work on Capcom's most revolutionary and influential title "Street Fighter II". Members of the production staff stated that the 1984 movie "Streets of Fire" was the games inspiration through elements and story. The movies main character was Tom Cody, whos last name is the first name of one of the Final Final Fight protagonists. The movie also deals with the kidnapping of a young woman by a city gang. Other inspirations were the names of 1980's rock musicians for characters. These include Axl (Axl Rose), Slash (Slash), Simons (Gene Simmons), Sid (Sid Vicous), Billy (Billy Idol), Abigail (King Diamond), Sodom (Sodom) Roxy (Roxy Music) Damnd (The Damned), Poison (Poison) and from wrestling fame Hugo Andore (Andre the Giant). The games story takes place in a fictional city located on on the United States Atlantic Coast named Metro City. After the city's crime rate reaches alarming levels, newly elected pro wrestler turned politician Mike Hagger cleans up and suppresses the spike. On a sub note, Haggar's wrestling career is chronicled in the later released Capcom title "Saturday Night Slam Masters". Despite the impact, one particular gang "The Mad Gears" would not be dissolved. Under the direction of a crooked businessman named Belger, the group attempted to bribe the newly elected mayor. However when Haggar refused, the Mad Gears kidnaped his daughter Jessica. Infuriated, Haggar takes the fight to the street while recruiting Jessica's street fighter boyfriend Cody Travers. Cody additionally enlists his friend Guy whom is an actual ninja in training. Together the three tear through the Mad Gear gang with hopes of rescuing Haggar's daughter. The game itself was comprised of a 2 player cabinet allowing the player to choose from the three protagonists Cody, Guy or Haggar. Cody was the balanced character whom was the only one who could use a knife without throwing it. Guy utilized speed and the ability to bounce off walls. Haggar was pure damage using different wrestling moves. Combos could be performed and pressing the punch and kick buttons together would execute a desperation move that could clear enemies around them at the expense of life energy. The game consisted of six stages with a boss character at the end of each stage. The game was critically acclaimed winning numerous awards during the 90's. There is so much more I can add to this but I am limited so I will add these points. This was the game that truly brought me to arcades and created the co-op experience for me. Simple but violent, it was a product of the time that shaped a generation and made Capcom one of my favorite publishers. If you like my content please Like, Comment and hopefully Subscribe.
