I've been on a huge Data East kick lately, just finishing up Robocop 2 a couple weeks ago and Sly Spy before that. I'm not sure what it is; the cheesy voice samples, over-the-top action, the soundtracks, or something else entirely, but Data East games have really grown on me lately.

The streak continues; this time Heavy Barrel gets the No death / No miss / Unkillable treatment in 1080p for all to enjoy...

Completing the game on 1 credit isn't super difficult once you have a good route and know what weapons to use where. Getting the no death run is a bit harder, since random shots from the hovering enemies that have a knack for avoiding you can put you in a position with no escape.

I avoided this as much as possible by using (abusing?) the slightly less powerful mace weapon that covers all the way around you. Normally, red grenades are the sub-weapon of choice for their huge blast radius and ridiculous damage they inflict.

Played on a genuine US version Data East Heavy Barrel PCB with default settings. SNK LS-30 rotary joystick used with HAS v3.1 supergun, outputting RGB to the OSSC and scaled with 5X line multiplier setting which is captured at 1080p/60fps. No TAS (tool assistance), cheats, hacks are used in any of my runs.

Funny tidbit: my PCB freaked out a couple of times during this run and just started cycling through the voice samples, like at 00:59...pretty hilarious.
