In this lecture/discussion session from my Fall 2013 Introduction to Philosophy class at Marist College, we examine a few selected portions of Aristotle's Metaphysics, mainly in order to think about key themes of the entire class -- Love, Friendship, Desire. So, we discuss the human desire to know, the development of disciplines, the four causes, Aristotle's criticism of Empedocles Love-based cosmology, and why the final cause matters so much.
