Arkane Studios Ditching Multiplayer! Is Prey 2 Next?
41Arkane Austin seemingly is returning back to its single player roots after the launch of Redfall based on recent job listings that have surfaced which explicitly call for experienced single player developers and make no mention of multiplayer or co-op requirements! Is it possible that Arkane may be returning to create Prey 2 - or will they embark on a brand-new IP? Arkane does have a history of innovating and creating new unique worlds.
It's no secret that the launch and development of Redfall was a pretty hard blow to the studio. A Prey sequel may be exactly what the studio needs to get them back on their feet. By creating an experience that already has an established fanbase and established lore it may ease the studio, and the new talent that is joining, into creating the next great Arkane experience.
But reasonable questions and concerns can be raised - such as whether or not Arkane is equipped to create a great Prey sequel if the original team that made titles like Prey are no longer working on the game.
In either case - I never think it is fair to judge a studio based on one subpar release and I will be eagerly awaiting more to see what Arkane Austin is working on!
