At the moment the Arma Reforger HUD doesn't have a constantly showing tool tip guide for what & which controls & commands are mapped onto your Xbox or PC gamepad or controllers directional D-Pad, so it's easy to forget and get confused about which way and button to press for the map, compass, watch and flashlight torch.
The simple answer to this is to press & hold the "view" button (the one with the two little squares), and the tool tip or guide to what the D-Pad does, will appear in the bottom left of your screen.
The controls for your Xbox Controller Gamepad D-Pad actually are:
Compass: Press & Hold "Up".
Wristwatch: Tap "Up" Twice.
Flashlight Torch: Press & Hold "Left".
Map: Press & Hold "Right".
