Armalyte - C64 Sundays Rank 47
This C64sunday we take on Armalyte the sequel to Delta and the 47th game on our lemon64 top 100 list of Commodore64 games. (as of August 31, 2014)
The winner of the 1989 British Golden Joystick award for Best Graphics, Armalyte was released in 1988 by Thalamus (of creatures and xmas 'roids fame) Programmed by John Kemp (citadel, electric dream soft) and Dan Phillips (Last Ninja 3 and Hunter's moon) with Music by Martin Walker (Altered Beast, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Ninja Spirit) with Graphics by Robin Levy (Last Ninja 3 and Turbo Charge).
Armalyte is a Gradius style game and as such is a horizontal shoot'em up. You get one option by default in one player mode and in two player mode more power-ups are present to make up for not having one and to keep both ships powered up. It's interesting to power up your various weapons and if you're smart enough to let the intro play for a bit you'll get to see what they all are. Any how not a lot to say about it other than it controls pretty good and is fun and I'm not too good at it :(
