very short animation as a proof of concept to test out my new acfa shader AND to test out color grading.

lil story about this animation, this started out as a very very simple animation to test out my new acfa shader and was never meant to see been seen but it devolved into becoming a full blown ac4 "cutscene".
since this animation started out as a lighting test it didnt have any color grading, primal armor effects or motion blur but when i saw the potential i got a lil carried away, starting with the motion blur.
the motion blur was probably the biggest pain in the butt with this animation, for some ungodly reason real motion blur is broken on any aaliyah parts, all i know is that it has something to do with shade auto smooth but i cant just turn off shade auto smooth cuz i need it for the original normals that acfa uses in game. to get around this problem i had to render the animation in shade flat just so i can get the vectors for the animation, then i had to apply the vectors to the shade auto smooth animation to get fake motion blur, its not as good as actual physically accurate motion blur but its the best i can do.
the primal armor effects where very annoying to get right, i had to first set up the sprite animation for the lighting which wasnt the most fun thing, the real struggle cam from animating the lightning to sweep across the primal armor and not look bad, i spent maybe 2 days messing with the lighting just to get it right and another 2 days to get the primal armor regen to look right. the actual primal armor itself used reflection mapping and trying to animate that isnt very fun.
last was the color grading, this was probably the most fun part. it took a of will power to not get carried away with the classic ac4 brown filter and make everything super contrast-y and impossible to see like the mission seed of barren earth. i decided to do a mix between marche au supplices color grading and ac4 intro cinematics color grading. im quite happy with it how it came out. i now understand why ac4 used color grading so heavily it looks cool if used right. (fun fact before the color grading the raw animations sky was grey and supplices eye was blood red)
