Armored Core For Answer Walkthrough Part 1 One Hell of an Intro 1440p RPCS3
Armored Core: For Answer is a 2008 vehicular combat game developed by FromSoftware and published by Ubisoft for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is the 13th installment in the mecha-based Armored Core series, the game is the direct sequel to Armored Core 4.
After the announcement of Armored Core 6 at the game awards I couldn't think of a better time to jump back into this amazing series, which is one of Fromsoftwares longest standing franchises. Hopefully this series will act as a good introduction to the Armored Core games for people that are unfamiliar with them; or as a refresher for people that haven't played the games for a while before the sequel comes out.
I have always been a massive fan of the Armored Core games since playing Armored Core 2 on the PS2 and have really enjoyed the evolution of the series as it has progressed. Thankfully controls have improved a lot from the earlier entries.
In terms of gameplay the 4th generation (Armored Core 4 and For Answer) is much faster than previous entries and many other mech games. It may be a bit overwhelming at first but I feel like this creates a high skill ceiling for players that take the time to really master its mechanics (I don't claim to be a master BTW). However like previous generation customization is where the game really shines, allowing you to adjust almost every aspect of your AC to really find a play style that suits you or to try and earn the highest mission rankings possible (I do think that this is something that For Answer did a little better as there looks to be more parts available to play with). I also think that Armored Core For Answer offers a much greater challenge than AC 4 and encourages a lot more customization.
In terms of story its typical Fromsoftware where there is one but to learn any real details you have to dig to find it. Thankfully if you are more interested in the story the amazing Armoredcorelore channel has done the hard work for you here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJTDu6S78As
In terms of the walkthrough I will be trying to show off as many of the parts as it makes sense to do so depending on our Mech. I only fully completed all three endings for Armored Core For Answer after completing the Armored Core 4 walkthrough, but have done multiple full playthroughs since then experimenting with different builds, so I will be focusing on showing the ways I find it easiest or most fun to complete missions and offer any advice I can think of.
I will be completing all three endings for this walkthrough as well, you can find the flow chart I am using to check mission routes here: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/944263-armored-core-for-answer/map/6611-mission-chart
If you want to see a hard mode walkthrough after this series let me know as many of the missions are changed up quite significantly and more story/lore points are mentioned in the in game dialog.
A quick note is that at the moment the game is a little bit unstable with the emulator, but the main issues are to do with cut-scenes so if you are not fussed about the mission briefings you can skip them to help lessen the problem. It can also stutter after a while so you may need to back out of the emulator every so often to maintain performance. But I feel that as long as you save often you should definitely be able to enjoy a full playthrough of the game. I am not sure how it runs with Xbox emulation as I have seen some people say it runs really well and others say it runs terrible, so if RPCS3 isn't working well for you it might be worth trying one of the 360 emulatiors
For my emulator settings I am using the suggested settings on the RPCS3 wiki found here: https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=Armored_Core:_For_Answer
Hopefully you are just all as excited for the sequel as I am and enjoy the walkthrough.
