Army of TWO: The 40th Day - PS3 - Full Playthrough (Blind, Contractor Difficulty)
Army of TWO: The 40th Day, played blind on the hardest difficulty. It's a full playthrough from beginning to end.
This is a 2010 cover shooter with some tactical elements. It's the sequel to Army of TWO and continues the adventures of mercs Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem. This time they find themselves fighting to survive in Shanghai, during a major terrorist attack.
You pick either character at the start of a chapter and the other will be your wingman. You can issue basic commands and he'll do things like pin enemies down, scout ahead and heal you when you fall. He isn't invincible though, so you need to heal him too if need be. If either of you die, it's back to the last checkpoint.
There's a big emphasise on weapon customisation and you earn cash throughout the game to buy and upgrade gear. There are also moral choices and civilian rescues, which will unlock extra weapons and parts.
This playthrough is fully blind and deaths have been left in, like any blind playthrough it takes a level or two to muscle memory the controls, so there will be some mess ups now and then, like charging into the fray when I wanted to take cover (cover and sprint dash are contextually mapped to the same button).
FYI I didn't actively look for the collectibles in this playthrough (cats and radios), though I get them if they're in front of me. There are many points of no return, making it impossible to backtrack for missed collectibles, so it's the sort of task best left for a replay. I didn't bother pausing the game to listen to the radios as I just wanted to get into the action.
