In 1996, SNK attempted to give Art of Fighting a new look with its third chapter, "Path of the Warrior."
The company was focused on other fighting series, and this time it tried to differentiate itself with a game featuring a distinct animation system that changed the traditional fighting system imposed by Street Fighter, which many companies of the time followed.
First, the animation. While it uses 2D sprites, the movements are based on a rotoscoping process, where human movements are captured and then drawn on top of them to create more realistic models.
Sure, there are powers and techniques, but the combat feels much more realistic, with counters, reversals, and ground strikes.
