Art Style: Rotozoa | Uncommentated Longplay 1 (Full Game + Credits)
So a few days ago, I was able to homebrew my Nintendo Wii and install some WiiWare titles. I was incredibly excited, and I wanted to record and share my first playthroughs of the Art Style games.
This game in particular looks simple, but is in fact very difficult. Sometimes, taking damage can destroy an entire tentacle, forcing you to rebuild it over again. The closer you are to finishing the level, the more goobugs appear in the level, making it difficult to evade them, charge up your cyclone attack, or grab the goobugs you want. The goobugs appear to have different patterns, which may be tied to different shapes, but I haven't been able to figure them out yet.
In this video, I beat all stages that are required to play the credits. After beating those stages, you unlock an extra set of levels (which is also in this video). Then, after beating those, you get 2 more levels for every set of levels. I titled this video "Uncommentated Longplay 1" because I intend to actually do a follow-up to this, where I play all the extra levels and game modes I haven't touched on yet.
Personally, I found this game to be very interesting and fun, even if it got frustrating at times. Core gameplay mechanics and controls are easy to understand and get used to, and sound effects and visuals give it an ancient and alien atmosphere. It is simply a spectacular work of art.
I'd like to give special thanks to three friends: Tess, Tello, and Fliksie. They introduced me to the Bit Generations/Art Style series and we have a lot of fun talking about the games (and making fanart and lore lol). I love you and I can't wait to play more of these games. Love you so much. ♥
