"Assassin's Creed Hexe," a new installment in the series, is reportedly moving away from the expansive open-world format of recent games, potentially focusing on a more linear and focused experience, possibly with supernatural elements.

Series producer Marc-Alexis Cote has stated that "Hexe" will not be an RPG, diverging from the RPG-focused direction of recent titles like "Valhalla," "Odyssey," and "Origins".

It seems Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed game will leave the open worlds behind in favour of a more linear gameplay experience.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is now known for its vast open worlds though some fans believe this has led to the series’ downfall.

The fear system from Jack the Ripper's DLC in AC Syndicate is set to return in some capacity.

Back in 2022, Marc-Alexis Côté, vice president executive producer of the Assassin's Creed series Assassin’s Creed Hexe is “a different type of game” and “not everything has to be a 150-hour RPG, right?”

Now, new details seemingly confirm the game will follow in Mirage’s footsteps and be more linear in design.
