0To quote the immortal Admiral Ackar, "IT'S A TRAP!"
*Was. It *was* a trap to be precise. The funeral was a front in order to lure Altair into the waiting arms of Templars and Saracens alike. The worst part is, Robert de Sable was never in Jerusalem. He sent another in his place, a woman, named Maria Thorpe, in order to buy time so that he can enact his master plan (We'll talk about her a fair deal early on).
Robert schemes within the broken citadel of Arsuf, where a great battle brews between King Richard the Lionheart's Crusaders and Salah Ad-Din's Saracens. With the templars we've killed on both sides of the conflict, Robert hopes to turn his losses in his advantage, by uniting both warring armies against a common enemy: the Assassin Brotherhood. It could work, unless we stop him once and for all.
However, even if we do take care of Robert de Sable, there's a chance that a power vacuum will bring forth someone far more evil, and more prepared, to willingly take his place.
